Passive abilities are also not all the same. I could have brought Samara up with Raeve which would also be extremely useful on this level. Adrenaline Rush and Concussive Shot, but the use of Mordin's incinerate (which is more powerful than other squadmates' because of his unique tech upgrade) and Miranda's slam is key to advance in this level. In temrs of Shepard, what I'm doing is basically what you mentioned. In terms of powers you're gonna indeed be relying mostly on Adrenaline Rush and Concussive Shot, but you'll always have two squadmates with you which give you access to more powers, and to effectively play ME2 you should be using them. The soldier is the class meant to be played the closest to a traditional TPS. I'd guess that you're thinking stricktly in terms of the weapons they use, which makes me thing you're not using your squadmates powers often. The closest thing is Kasumi's overload and Tali's Energy Drain, but there is a key difference between them. In fact, they literally don't have a common power between them. Kasumi even has TWO unique powers, you picked very different squadmates for your comparison. That combination is more than enough to make each individual squadmate stand out.

Plus some of them have unique research options that give them extra buffs. All squadmates have 4 abilities: 2 that are from a common pool, 1 passive and 1 that is unique to that squadmate (and which in turns Shepard can unlock for themselves). If you think Mordin, Tali and Kasumi are the same in terms of gameplay it's because you haven't played much of ME2 at all. Them also being garbage in ME1 doesn't change that.Ībsolutely incorrect. The class and dare I say the game in general relies entirely on its excellent gunplay.

Otherwise fights are just spamming Adrenaline Rush with the occasional Concussive Shot. I'm playing as a Soldier and the only powers I use are the ammo powers at the start of the mission and very occasionally on the fly. Multiple passive class powers are the same effects but under different names. There are only 4 levels per skill and every final evolution is the same single target but strong vs. The only reason I don't list Legion is because at least he has access to ARs and sniper rifles. In terms of gameplay Mordin, Tali and even Kasumi are completely interchangeable in terms of gameplay. No matter how you cut it, two skills per squadmember (three after their loyalty mission) is just super underwhelming and together with the same pistol + smg/shotgun weapon combination for 3/4 of the cast there's very little to set them apart. Them also being garbage in ME1 doesn't change that. I remember almost everything from the first game maybe except for a couple side missions.Ĭlick to shrink.Skills are absolutely an issue with ME2.

I say this as someone who played through the series a couple of times too. So that tells me young me was purely focused on the main storyline and I moved quickly through it and that may be why I liked it so much.

I'm doing missions now that I don't remember at all. When I used to play this game I didn't try to complete as much of it as possible. I remember people saying the Shadow Broker one is good but I don't have a care in the world for it, which is disappointing lol. Just focusing on the main game because it's actually important. I did one of the DLC missions and hated it so I'm not doing em. Oh and I just can't be bothered with the DLC. So yeah.I'm lukewarm on it but it's still fun. The story is lightly tethered together and you're just kind of waiting for the epic finale. It's still good but it feels like you're going through the paces. This is gonna sound very weird but it feels like the first 90 minutes of Avengers: Endgame lmfao. Speaking of the first game, it was as good as I remember it. I think I'm more than halfway done with Mass Effect 2 and I have to say, it's not as good as I remember it let alone not as good as the first game.
